OVERVIEW ABOUT ALTRUISTS

The Altruist is generally a warm and friendly person, true to their name, with a genuine interest in those around them. They are a thoughtful and effective communicator, aware of others’ needs and concerns, and capable of motivating or supporting people accordingly.

HOW TO MANAGE An Altruist

Altruists thrive when they have opportunities to learn and interact with a variety of people, absorbing everything they can about the role and business. They prefer freedom from too much repetition, and value assurances that their work is respected and appreciated.

HIGHEST & LOWEST DRIVES

  • High Extraversion: connection, interaction, genuine rapport with the team.
  • High Formality: efficiency, organisation, doing things properly for the group's benefit.
  • Low Dominance: harmony, encouragement, doesn't want to force an outcome.
  • Low Patience: gets frustrated when things move too slowly or interaction is limited.

FACTOR COMBINATIONS

  • B>A: Builds cohesion through relationships rather than authority.
  • D>A: Prefers a fair, well-organized process over imposing a personal approach.
  • High B + Low A: Helps reduce team friction and maintain harmony, but may hesitate to initiate the assertive conversation a situation requires.

SELF COACHING QUESTIONS

  • Have you considered where supporting others is strengthening the team, or whether taking on too much is leaving your own priorities underprotected?
  • Have you considered when a more direct conversation would resolve an issue faster, or are you preserving harmony at the expense of needed clarity?
  • Have you considered where openness to change could help the work move forward, or are you holding to familiar methods because they feel more dependable?

    WANT TO GIFT an altruist

High social drive and low dominance make them the emotional glue of any group, always giving first. A gift about rest and softness redirects some of that care back to them.
