How Co-Designed Leadership Architecture Changed Everything at SWSPHN

The Challenge

When SWSPHN engaged Red Wolf Group, the organisation was operating with strong momentum; capable leaders, effective delivery, and clear commitment across teams. As SWSPHN looked ahead to the next phase of growth, the conversation naturally shifted to how leadership could evolve alongside the organisation’s ambitions.

Red Wolf Group was engaged to support SWSPHN in elevating leadership from strong day-to-day management to a cohesive, future-focused leadership approach. One that would unify leaders at every level, strengthen people-centered leadership capability, and create a sustainable pipeline of future leaders.

Your personalised approach meant we could reach every participant exactly where they were at, and with empathy and care, guide and support them as they wrote their own development story.”

“From the moment we reached out to you to workshop ideas, through the whole discovery phase, delivering the program, and the final presentations, it has been an absolute pleasure working with a professional and experienced team who are equally passionate about our organisation and our work, and consistently demonstrated an authentic desire to invest in and empower our people."

Getting It Right Starts with Knowing What’s at Stake

At this pivotal stage of growth, Red Wolf Group partnered with SWSPHN to ensure leadership capability continued to scale in step with the organisation’s strategy, culture, and values. Our focus was on helping leaders develop a shared leadership language, consistent behaviours, and greater confidence in people leadership, so leadership roles felt inspiring, achievable, and sustainable over the long term.

By supporting alignment across leadership levels and strengthening capabilities such as self-awareness, emotional intelligence, and high-quality conversations, we helped lay the foundations for a leadership culture that attracts, develops, and retains talent well into the future.

The Approach: Alignment

The priority was clear. Alignment.

Red Wolf Group worked alongside SWSPHN to align leaders, leadership behaviours, development pathways, and organisational purpose. Rather than delivering isolated training, we supported the creation of an intentional leadership system; one designed to build strong relationships across cohorts, embed people-centered leadership capability, and prepare future leaders early and thoughtfully.

This marked a shift from leadership activity to deliberate leadership architecture, ensuring consistency, clarity, and long-term impact.

Whilst Red Wolf Academy has developed a proven leadership and management architecture underpinned by its own competency framework, our work with SWSPHN was intentionally collaborative.

Rather than applying a pre-built model, we partnered with SWSPHN to co-design a leadership framework that was distinctly theirs; authentic, relevant, and fully aligned to their strategy, culture, and values.

Key elements of the approach included:

Data Collection: Reviewing existing values, strategy, role expectations, and engagement insights to ensure the framework reflected language and behaviours that already mattered at SWSPHN.

Facilitated Workshop: Bringing together ELT, SLT, and Team Leaders in an interactive session to define leadership behaviours that support a thriving, future-ready culture; building shared understanding and ownership.

Alignment: Presenting a clear, consolidated leadership architecture aligned to the program, refining it with leadership input, and tailoring competency assessments (participant and manager) to establish a strong baseline for development and accountability.

This approach ensured the leadership framework was not only robust and future-focused but genuinely embedded and owned by SWSPHN’s leaders.

“It's not just about collecting a certificate of completion, it's a course that you walk away with skills, tools and knowledge that you will be able to apply to real-life work scenarios.”

Melanie Lowlett (Practice Support Team Lead)

The Impact

Leaders consistently reported a positive impact from the program, describing meaningful shifts in how they show up day-to-day. Participants noted increased confidence and calmness in their leadership, stronger communication with their teams, improved morale, and a greater sense of presence and focus on developing others.

These shifts translated into more connected leadership, stronger relationships across levels, and a leadership experience that feels both empowering and sustainable.

“If you have a choice, this one is a no-brainer! One of the best leadership courses I have completed in my 10+ years as a leader. Going in with an open mind is essential, and you may come out with a new perspective on various aspects of leadership.”

Jamie Moliterno (Quality and Compliance Coordinator)

Final Thoughts

The leadership journey with SWSPHN highlights the power of intentional, aligned leadership development. By partnering to create a shared leadership language, clear behavioural expectations, and people-centred capability, Red Wolf Group supported leaders to lead with greater confidence, clarity, and purpose.

Most importantly, leadership at SWSPHN is now positioned as aspirational and sustainable—supporting engagement, succession, and a future-ready culture that can continue to grow alongside the organisation’s ambitions.

“I have a lot more confidence in who I am as a person and the decisions I make (mainly because I am thinking them through now). I am seeing results in my team; they are coming along on the strategic journey with me”
